SmokeShowing is a Private & Restricted email list for Active and Retired fire personnel who work/worked for L.A. County Fire Department. [SmokeShowing] was started by retiring Capt. Steve "Firebat" Johnson on December 16, 1998. Since then, over 183,000 posts have been made to this list. This is an UNRATED mailing list where any issue may be discussed openly and frankly - with some reasonable standards of propriety being observed. If you choose to "flame" someone, you may get "flamed" back in any responses to your post. For the most part, this is an "anything goes" list as long as the posts are signed by their authors and rules are observed. Persons who are not employees or former employees of the County of Los Angeles Fire Department may participate with the approval of the List Administrators, but must submit a written request to SmokeShowing Admin. Those with legitimate internal or external issues affecting the current and former employees of the Department are highly encouraged to participate. The 3 Simple Rules of Posting on SmokeShowing #1. You must sign your posts with your name & years of fire service. #2. Observe 'Reasonable standards of propriety' (decorum) No excessive or group Berating. #3. Using SmokeShowing
To post a message to all the list members, send email to smokeshowing@lacountyfiremen.com from your subscribed email address only. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to SmokeShowing
Subscribe to SmokeShowing by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. Once confirmation is received, your request will be held for approval by the list moderator. You will be notified of the moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription.
